Swords
(Preview)
Id like to make myself a sword, and not wooden, but i cant find any pages on where there are any guides to make swords besides made of wood. Something more resistant than wood would be very useful. I want to do one myself because: i aint got the money at the moment to buy one and selfmade are always dearer and...

Aragorn vs. Eragon
(Preview)
I'm I crazy or is the book Eragon something of a rip-off from Middle Earth?
Don't get me wrong, Eragon is a decent enough story, but I can't help but notice similarities between itself, and LOTR.
1.) Main characters Eragon / Aragorn
2.) We have Dwarves and Elves in each, along with Dragons (altho...

Other authors of note (who do you like?)
(Preview)
Aside from our common interests in JRRT (from which my own fantasy backgrounds started with the Rankin/Bass movies when I was about 3), what other authors does everyone enjoy reading? I'm entirely caught up in George R.R. Martin's Song Of Ice And Fire series, and am eagerly awaiting (the seemingly m...

Am I missing something?
(Preview)
I've really enjoyed the conversations, though limited, that I've been involved with on this forum. I can't help but wonder if I'm missing something though. I can't seem to find any "fresh" posts or threads. I'm not into roll playing. I find my style of writing isn't good for that sort o...

Over 3000!
(Preview)
Indeed, members, with this post I shall be writing something for the 3001st time on the Tolkien Forums. Looking back to the early beginnings so long ago (almost 2 years) I feel happy to have met all members and to have discussed and laughed at their sides. I must unfortunately also admit that the forum i...

If there's a similar thread (and I missed it) please ignore this message. I was just wondering which creature or who would you be from the whole Tolkien world? Which are the reasons of your choise?
If you have more options I think would be nice to make one big post for all in order to keep this thread sh...

I was just wondering (in a non-commerical way, of course!), if any of you know any other Tolkien forums that have just started (20 members or so perhaps)? I'd like to be there when it grows, see members coming in etc. And also learn new things about people and Tolkien -- Edited by Olorin/Gandalf at 20:21...

Who are you? (in 250 words)
(Preview)
Who am I? or What I am? First of all, I would like to begin with who am I from my point of view. Well, it’s really not that simple to say. I believe that describing myself in 250 words would be totally unfair to me since I’m more complex then that. I am queer. People think I am queer. To sustain this idea I would m...

the concept of death for tolkien
(Preview)
I think the title says it all.
In a previous thread Narg mentioned the idea of death in Tolkien's writings.
And of course depending on each race the idea of death is of course different.
We all know that Dwarves can "reincarnate", that Men go to an unknown place and that Elves stay in Aman.
But th...
