Hello All!

Hello everyone, I am a huge fan of Tolkien's vast work (ever since first reading the Silmarillion years ago); and I hope to engage in some interesting discussions here.

Oh by the way, is it only possible to be an Elf of the third age? (Not sure how the whole thing works)

FirstBorn,
Welcome! This is a great place for discussions and exploring just about everything Tolkien.
I am just one of the members here but if you have any questions I will be glad help. I think you will find folks here are very welcoming and will look forward to your post with interest and respect. It is a place to learn and have fun. Just find a topic of interest and post away ... don't worry about the dates ... your question or opinion will be welcome.

And on your question "is it only possible to be an Elf of the third age?" (Not sure how the whole thing works)
Absolutely! Click on the Site Navigation (just below where your login status is) and click on the Ranking Kingdoms bar ... it will present you with a long list of kingdoms to choose from (Elves, Men, Dwarves, Orcs, etc.) Just choose one and you are on your way!

By the way I like your avatar.
Who is your favorite character? Book?

So again, Welcome!
Bear an Elf-Friend

Bear

Thank you for your warm welcome, and for answering my question. Now, to answer your questions:

I have to say that my favorite of all the characters Tolkien created is Samwise Gamgee; I've grown to love him more and more each time I've read LotR. He was truly the "everyman" of the story in my opinion. And as for my favorite of Tolkien's works, (and it is very hard to narrow it down to one I must say) I especially love The Two Towers. (Samwise had some outstanding dialogue in that particular chapter of LotR; Tolkien truly was a master story-teller.)

P.S. Thanks again for taking the time to welcome me.

Welcome and well met FirstBorn!

I'm fairly new myself, only being here a couple of weeks now, and I'm here to say that I have learned a great deal from the members here. They're a great bunch! There's no such thing as an old topic here, so get in there and enjoy yourself. Can't wait to see your comments and or questions out there.

Once again, I bid thee a fond welcome!
