Indepth Discussion of the Olvar of Middle-earth and Valinor

This is a thread to discuss the Olvar of Tolkien's Worlds. Unlike the Trivia Thread, which should have SHORT answers without a lot of Dialogue, This is where you want to delve into the books. I have noticed that a lot of people will take the easy route and go to Wikipedia, which is alright with me, but I really would like to get into the books and glean from them, at the same time we look for Olvar and their history, we can learn other aspects from our beloved books. So here is a chance to talk about Olvar to yor heart's content
