Hello

Like many in this area of the forums, I read Tolkien at a young age and couldn't get enough.  The Hobbit followed by The Lord of the Rings was devoured many times over.  The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales were also read many times.  I have read bio's on Tolkien--the good and the not so good.  I have been enjoying the other works of Tolkien but am most interested in his sub-creation that we all know as Middle-Earth.  I look forward to learning much about Tolkien here and discussing many Tolkienian subjects!

Greetings, Allister! Sounds like we have another scholar on Middle-earth amongst us! I'm sure you'll find some interesting topics we've discussed in the past and can provide your own take on them. What do you think of the LotR films and the current 'The Hobbit' trilogy?

Thank you, Bilbo and Thank you, Laurelin! I do look forward to discussing all things about Middle-Earth!!!
Bilbo, in answer to your question on the movies---I have to say that I really think the Lord of the Rings movies were good. I would rather have had Glorfindel in his rightful part--but I guess Hollywood thought the movie's were to 'male heavy.' I despise the look of the dwarfs (or dwarves--however you prefer) in The Hobbit movie's. I know they were trying to go for a unique look for each dwarf---but I thought the job on them was poor. I have other negative issues with The Hobbit movies--they have been entertaining but much of the original story was to much dabbled with.
