Can anyone refresh my memory?

ok, I just forgot something and I am trying to remember...
now, as far as I remember Eomund, and implicitly his son Eomer claimed descent from Aldor the Old, third king of Rohan...but I am not sure
could anyone perhaps tell me if I am correct?

I don't know of ever learning the descent of Eomund.  It may of course just be that it's in some information that I don't have, but I can't recall anything further about the ancestors of Eomund.


I do know that Eomund married Theoden's sister, Theodwyn, so in effect becoming Theoden's brother...making Eomer and Eowyn his nephew and niece.  And being the closest blood relative, and of 'Theoden's house' on Pelennor fields naming Eomer as his heir.

indeed, but I believe I read in the UT that Eomund himself claimed descent from one of the early kings of Rohan, and that this is why he was also Lord of the Eastfold...and as the Lords of the Eastfold had their city at Aldburg in the Folde I thought it might be Aldor who was Theoden's ancestor

Well, thanks, but I've found it on my own.
It is a note to the "Battles of the Fords of the Isen, Unfinished Tales"

† There Eorl had his house; it passed after Brego son of Eorl removed to Edoras into the hands of Eofor, third son of Brego, from whom Éomund, father of Éomer, claimed descent. The Folde was part of the King's Lands, but Aldburg remained the most convenient base for the Muster of the Eastmark.

So it is as I remembered, Éomund and implicitly Éomer and Éowyn also claimed descent from a son of Brego, Eofor, who established Aldburg as the reigning city of the Lords of the Eastmark.

So, after much, much time, the lines of 2 sons of Brego, Eofor and Aldor, were united through the marriage of Theodwyn with Éomund.

And, with this I would say this topic is over.
